Summer Leadership Development!

The Herbert Scobie Leadership School is a Triangle’s #1 leadership development program designed for all Actives. This program was recognized by the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors as a finalist for the Excellence in Educational Programming. Held at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN, it is a great central location for members for almost every Chapter to gather and share stories and advice.
The Louisville Chapter had 3 Active Brothers attend this past summer session: Br. Darrell Davis (lou09, pictured in center), Br. Drew Cox (lou10, pictured on left), and Br. Ruben Cid (lou10, pictured on right). As representatives of our Chapter, these three accepted several of the awards that were given out.

The Louisville Chapter was recognized so many times for great accomplishments, playful jests were made about the time we spent on stage. The awards received were:

• Chapter above 3.0 GPA

• Highest New Member GPA (3.21)

• Most Improved GPA

• Highest Community Service Hours, with 47 man-hours average, whereas 2nd place only had 11 man-hours average

• Br. Jason Hines (lou08) was one of three members nationwide to receive the Outstanding Leadership award

Another summer-based Leadership development program that Triangle participates in is the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI). It is a 5-day program that attracts Fraternity Men and Sorority Women from North America to analyze, discuss, and perfect their leadership skills. At this great school, Greeks talk in large and small group sessions about how their organization’s Ritual guide their life and actions, and how the skills they’ve learned help lead their Chapter in a positive direction. A main focus of this program is combining the influential efforts of the entire Greek Community towards making a difference in the world, starting out with something as small as eliminating hazing, and changing the negative public stereotype of Greek Life.

Huge thanks goes to Br. Mark Hamilton (lou09) for attending one of the summer sessions and representing Triangle amongst the rest of the Greek Community and for bringing the skills you learned back to lead our Chapter with.

These specialized programs are one great reason to join the Greek Community. There's really no better place you can learn from some of the greatest leaders across the collegiate world.
